NEW: As of October 12, 2025, Microsoft has announced that they have closed all of the loopholes that people were using to get around the hardware requirements of Windows 11. From this point forward, you will have to buy new computers in order to install Windows 11 if your hardware is not Windows 11 compatible. See below for hardware requirements of Windows 11.

Windows 10 is coming to an end soon. If your computer meets the minimum hardware requirement, it's easy to upgrade to Windows 11.

Note: If all of this seems a bit much, bring your computer by our service center and we'll handle it all for you.

Windows 11 Hardware Requirements:

To run Windows 11, your PC needs to meet the following hardware requirements:

• Processor: A 1GHz or faster with two or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip (SoC). Specifically, an 8th-generation Intel Core processor or AMD Ryzen 2000 series and above are supported.
• Memory: At least 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM. We recommend at least 8 GB.
• Storage: A minimum of 64 GB of storage space. We recommend much more.
• TPM (Trusted Platform Module): TPM 2.0 is required for enhanced security features like BitLocker and Device Encryption. We do NOT recommend BitLocker!!!
• Additionally, your PC must support Secure Boot and have a display capable of at least 720p resolution.

To check if your PC meets these requirements, you can use the PC Health Check app provided by Microsoft. (To find PC Health Check, use Search on the taskbar to search for PC Health Check, then select it from the list of results.)

If your current Windows 10 computer does not meet the minimum hardware requirements of Windows 11, we can upgrade your computer but if your current motherboard does not have a TPM 2.0 chip, it's usually not economical to upgrade. In that case, we will recommend a new PC or changing to Linux. On that new PC, we can transfer your data to the new PC. Optionally, we can even transfer most if not all of your programs for the cost of the special program that's used to do the transferring. If you decide to go with Linux, many if not all of your existing Windows programs will not work with Linux but many people will be surprised at how fast and well Linux works for common tasks like browsing the internet, sending and receiving e-mail, and playing games, etc.
